Multi-Cam

Premium members can check up to nine spots at the same time with new, personalized camera page

How to Be Everywhere at Once

Welcome to Feature Focus: a guide to new products and services on Surfline. In this episode, we demonstrate how to use the Multi-Cam, where you can check the surf not only at your local break, but at two, three, four... up to nine spots at once. Or, you can stream the Multi-Cam on your TV and mind-surf a big day at Pipe while simultaneously enjoying a sunrise at Uluwatu, Bali, and a sunset at Belmar, New Jersey. All from the comfort of your home. (The Multi-Cam is currently not available on the Surfline iOS or Android app.)

How do I get to the Multi-Cam?

You can access the Multi-Cam from any page on Surfline by clicking the small “Multi-Cam” icon on the far-left corner of the “Favorites” bar. Note: To launch the Multi-Cam, you’ll need to log in to your Premium account. If you’re not a Premium member, sign up for a free, 15-day trial now. (The Multi-Cam is currently not available on the Surfline iOS or Android app.)

How do I get cameras to show up on the page?

To add cams, click on any of your “Favorites” in the right column. The first cam you select will automatically load into the top-left corner – what we call the Primary Cam Window. In order to load the next cam, you will need to choose which window you’d like to fill by clicking on any of the empty boxes. Repeat this until all cam windows are filled. (To learn how to set up Favorites, go here.)

How do I change the number of camera windows?

At the bottom of the Multi-Cam player, there’s a control panel. Here, you can select the number of cams you want to watch, pause all cams on the screen, or enter full-screen mode for all the cameras that are streaming. The camera in the top left corner -- the primary cam -- will show as the largest cam in the first three Multi-Cam player sizing options.

How do I set up camera regions?

In the left column, you can select a region to fill your Multi-Cam player with territory-specific spots. The first time you select a region, the Multi-Cam player will auto-select top cams and spots from that region. (If your favorite spot doesn’t have a cam, you can still check the conditions.) But once you have chosen the breaks you like, those will show up during your next Multi-Cam session. To return to your favorites, simply click “All Favorites” at the top of the left column. And to minimize the left column, click the arrow at the top left. This will also increase the Multi-Cam player size.

How can I watch the Multi-Cam on my TV?

With up to nine cams running simultaneously, the Multi-Cam really comes to life on a big screen: the bigger, the better. There are a number of ways to stream the Multi-Cam on your TV, all of which are detailed here: “How to Stream Live Surf Cams to Your TV.
